Imaginal World, Imaginal Mind
This website was created on a private and non-commercial basis by Elisabeth Egekvist, M.A., Denmark, in order to share and develop a new world view (a new ontology and epistemology) which was triggered by a series of spontaneous spiritual experiences in the 1990’es. When I say ‘new’, I actually mean new to me, – and, I believe, to many others in modern society, for what I’m referring to is the discovery of a reality which has been known to mystics (including shamans) for thousands of years.
However, in order to deal with the challenge initiated by my spiritual experiences I set out on a voyage which took me from an ordinary job in a bank through various studies within psychology, philosophy and theory of science at the University of Aalborg, Denmark, to a ‘place’ where I could feel at home and from where I could express my insights into and thoughts about the deeper levels of life.
My account takes its outset in personal events, but it has been essential for me to examine whether my process was merely an indication of nature’s diversity or whether it might unveil a universal trait of mankind’s evolvement. I’m more and more convinced of the latter, but I must face the fact that this is not a widely accepted point of view, and I also realize that many people will not be interested in listening to what I have to say because an acceptance of mundus imaginalis (as described by the French philosopher, theologian and professor of Islamic Studies at the Sorbonne in Paris, Henry Corbin (1903-1978)) will indicate a validating of an ontology and epistemology so different from what is mainstream that many dare not, cannot or will not leave the familiar spheres to expand their thinking even for just a short period of time.
My book, Det Imaginale Livssyn – introduktion til en kreativ tænkemåde, in which I describe the above mentioned process, came out in July 2005. It is written in the Danish language, but in 2018 I finished translating the book into English and published it under the title: Imaginal World, Imaginal Mind.
